Santorini Acrylic Tokens: Care and Storage Tips

Quick answer

Store your Santorini acrylic tokens in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and clean them gently with a microfiber cloth and mild soap when needed.

Care and storage steps for Santorini acrylic tokens

1. Clean gently after each use: Wipe tokens with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. For stubborn marks, use a damp cloth with a drop of mild dish soap, then dry immediately. Avoid paper towels or abrasive sponges—they can leave micro-scratches that dull the acrylic over time. Never soak acrylic tokens or use alcohol-based cleaners; they can cloud the surface.
2. Store in a cool, dry place: Keep tokens in their original packaging or a padded box away from direct sunlight, radiators, or damp basements. Acrylic can warp in temperatures above 120°F (49°C) and may become brittle in extreme cold. A consistent room-temperature environment is ideal. Avoid storing tokens in a car trunk or garage where temperature swings are common.
3. Separate by type to prevent rubbing: If you store multiple sets together, place a soft divider or cloth between stacks of tokens. Acrylic pieces can rub against each other during transport, causing surface wear. For the Santorini bundle, keeping each of the 24 sets in its own small bag or compartment prevents accidental scratches. Check tokens before each game for any debris or dirt that could cause scratching.
